3 Best Baking Classes in Delhi for 2020

While all of us admire pastry chefs like Gordan Ramsay and Christian Tibballs some people aspire to be like them but can a baking school in India give you the skill-set to make eye-popping, lip-smacking, desserts like these professionals?

Finding a baking school in India is hard because professional bakery courses are far and few. And even if you did find a baking school, is their faculty good? Is the training hands-on? Are they expensive? These are questions commonly asked (tricky, right?)

But if you live in Delhi, we are about to make the decision a whole lot simpler. Yup, below we listed the 3 best bakery courses in Delhi for both professionals and hobbyists.

Best Bakery Courses in Delhi for 2020

1) Truffle Nation (Baking Classes in South Delhi)

TruffleNation is one of a kind baking school. While they excel at teaching you baking, it is not the only thing they are known for. You’ll walk out with much more knowledge than you would have thought. More in detail below.

Barely a Km from the Saket metro
The Bad
Batches fill up real quick
9.7

Features

Simply put, TruffleNation is one of the very few baking schools in India that gives you a blueprint to starting your bakery or home baking business. I say this because you will not just become an expert at baking bread, cupcakes, tiered cakes, etc. but also at selling them.

All thanks to their deep-dive marketing sessions. This includes learning to create a brand online, running tests on product demand through ads on Google, Facebook, and Instagram, setting up a website and so on.

They also give you detailed sessions on the pricing of goods, the hiring process, tips to store and package baked items the right way so it remains fresh and other skill-sets that can be the X factor.

The Diploma course has 9 modules. This course will cost you Rs. 2,75,000and takes 4-months. A shorter and cheaper alternative would be the Certification course. Note, that only these professional courses provide marketing sessions.

You can also enroll for each of the 9 modules separately and learn just cookies, tarts, celebration cakes, etc. if you wanted a cheaper, part-time bakery course.

But with the professional course come benefits galore apart from the marketing sessions. For example, Diploma students that perform well are given the chance to intern at TruffleNation or other possible bakeries around Delhi including Theobroma.

Irrespective of your course type or even for a workshop, training is 100% hands-on so you will learn to work with high-end machines and equipment.

Their branch is just a km away from the Saket Metro so traveling to and fro the training is hassle-free and cheap. Not just that, all of their courses are cheaper when compared to the other top baking classes in Delhi.

And lastly, if you happen to miss your course due to sickness for a family problem, you will be accommodated into a later batch so you do not miss out on anything important

The Drawbacks

TruffleNation aims to keep the batch small so every student is comfortable and gets individual attention from the trainer. While that is great news, it means seats for new batches run out quickly so hurry up and enroll today.

2) ASSOCOM Institute of Bakery Technology & Management

If there is one school that can go toe to toe with Trufflenation in terms of cost then it is AIBTM. But they come with their fair share of drawbacks as well. Here’s more about them.

The Good
Offer evening classes
Get hostels within the campus
AC rooms and single rooms available
Courses for every need
Courses at affordable prices
The Bad
Greater Noida is had to travel to do Delhites
Marketing not part of training
8.2

Features

The one advantage that AITBM has over all other baking schools in Delhi is that they have hostel facilities. Now, hostels are average in terms of food, etc. but make the process of finding a stay easier, especially for students from outside of Delhi.

Also, you can choose between shared-AC rooms to beat the Delhi heat (trust me, it gets really hot) or even go for non-AC single rooms in case you prefer privacy and want to focus on your course without any disturbance.

But before you jump to picking rooms you need to first decide on the course. For those wanting to make a career in baking the Advanced Diploma and Diploma courses best suit you.

But if you have already done your Graduation in baking and want to further upgrade your skill-set, there is also a post-graduate course worth checking out.

They also have a special evening part-time course. This course is ideal for anyone that wants to get started with baking but at the same time remain committed to their college or office. If not that, other short-term courses include a 3-day Cake Decoration course, chocolate making course and so on.

With every course, all practical training will be hands-on and under the guidance of industry experts. You can also look forward to learning a lot through the library, industry visits, workshops held by guest trainers, etc.

One of the reasons why I preferred this school over some of the other popular ones like the Academy of Pastry and Culinary Arts is because of their lower pricing. Here Diploma courses under 2 lacs.

Drawbacks

For all the upsides, the biggest drawback of this baking school is its location. Being in Greater Noida, it is highly inaccessible for students from Delhi, making TruffleNation the better option. And if you opt to stay in the hostel, it adds to the overall fees.

While they include business planning, it is not as comprehensive as TruffleNation’s marketing sessions.

3) Academy of Pastry and Culinary Arts (Best Baking Classes in Gurgoan)

There are reasons APCA is one of the best baking classes in Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai and below I’ll tell you all of them.

Academy of Pastry Arts India Rating
Training
8
Accessibility
7.8
Infrastructure
9
Affordability
7
The Good
Learn from the very best in the business
Practical lessons are hands-on
Intern in Malaysia with Advanced diploma courses
Learn both baking and culinary arts
The Bad
It is expensive
No marketing or business planning in the courses
7.8

Features

Did you know India has competitions like the Pastry Queen Championship? Well, not only can you participate in that and other similar championships but also get insider knowledge as APCA faculty includes such winners.

But before you sign for any such competition, you will need to become a professional certified baker and APCA can help with that with their range of Diploma course. These courses can vary from 6-months to 9-months.

The 9-month course comes with special benefits. For example, at the completion of the course, you get to intern in Malaysia. This is especially helpful for students wanting to work abroad or at 5-stars.

And if you were looking for more part-time options, there are weekend classes available as well. APCA also covers courses for culinary arts. Plus, a Dual Course where you get to master both baking and cooking

But just having detailed courses and great faculty doesn’t help. To back it up APCA provides hands-on training to all of their students.

Furthermore, they can also provide students coming from outside of Delhi with a list of trusted hostels and PGs in the area making accommodation easier to find.

The Drawbacks

The only reason APCA is bottom of the list is its high pricing. Compared to Diploma courses at AIBTM and TruffleNation, you’d be shelling out around 2-3lacs more for professional courses

They are also not close to the metro station and do not provide marketing or business planning training.
